These journals document Governor William O. Bradley's official actions, which include appointing and accepting resignations from civil officials; granting pardons and reprieves, and remitting fines; approving expenditures; communicating with the General Assembly; and approving and rejecting legislation. Also included is the executive order calling the legislature into special session in 1897 to consider, among other things, the prevention of mob violence, and budget cuts in state government; and the message from the governor at the beginning of that session enumerating each problem.
